Hi All

It has been said that we just need three things in life; something to do, something to look forward to, and someone to love.

Chocolates, roses and butterflies kisses! The month of romance has passed with lots to report from The Cape Milner. St Valentine’s Day was celebrated in style with a feast prepared by our Head Chef, James Wamboy. An inspired explosion of flavors, textures and aromas was incorporated in the five course meal combining oysters, smoked salmon, sorbet, basil-basted-lamb loin and assiette au chocolat, which won the hearts of all our diners. And what would a romantic meal be without soothing live music. Sweet melodies were created by a voice accompanied by a pianist and saxophonist.

March sees the world's largest individually timed cycle race with around 35 000 bicycles coming in to our city for the Argus Cycle tour, bringing both local and international guests from all corners. The Cape Milner wishes all of the participants well for this prestigious event and invites one and all to carbo-load with a variety of delicious pasta dishes at our superb restaurant, No. 2 on Milner.

Another March highlight is the annual Cape Town Jazz Festival that has all the jazz enthusiasts planning their annual pilgrimage to the Mother City. The festival takes place on the weekend of 28 March and to get you in the mood there is a wonderful concert at Green market square on Wednesday 26 March, and entrance is free.

For those road running enthusiasts, the Two Oceans Marathon has drawn 6 693 participants for the 56km ultra-marathon, while the half-marathon has attracted 11 218 entries. The race is the most famous ultra-marathon in South Africa and if you’re a participant we look forward to cheering you on from Tamboerskloof as you pound our beautiful streets.

Whether you frequent us for after-work sundowners, or if you are a hotel guest, we look forward to welcoming you in March.

What’s hot and happening at the Cape Milner

Production season is still flourishing in Cape Town and The Cape Milner has been home to many international models, producers, photographers and the like over the past few months. Also occupying our rooms have been international doctors from abroad attending the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists at the Cape Town International Convention Center.

It is always heartwarming to welcome back so many guests who have stayed with us before, and have specifically requested our hotel, time and time again. We wish to extend our appreciation to these guests and assure them that we will strive continuously to exceed their expectations each time they visit us.

We have had some new additions to our Cape Milner family during the course of February. Bronwyn Cinnamon joins as our Accounts Clerk, Danny Hoolaus, as our Food and Beverage Manager and finally Yoshini Pillay as the new Accountant. We sincerely welcome these team members and encourage them to strive for excellence with each new day. With comings there are also goings, and it is always sad to say goodbye to those who have made room for the “new kids on the block”. It is with particular difficulty that we bid farewell to Minette in Housekeeping who has devoted 6 years to The Cape Milner hotel. Shanaaz in Front Office is also leaving and we wish them both all the very best for their futures.

Exciting news is that Shireen was promoted to Rooms Division manager and we wish her hearty congrats from the team. Also needing a huge thumbs up are both Thulani and Bongani who were voted our superstar performers of the month of February! Keep up the excellent work guys; you are truly an inspiration to us all.
